JWST Community Lecture Series - Imaging with the James Webb Space Telescope (C. Chen)

Community Lecture
October 4, 2016 11:00 AM EDT - October 4, 2016  12:00 PM EDT
Baltimore STScI Muller Bahcall Auditorium

Abstract:

JWST has a suite of instruments designed to provide high angular resolution images of the infrared sky at unprecedented sensitivities. To plan observations, users must specify the how the telescope is dithered, how the detector is read out, how long exposures should last, and the size of the subarrays to be used. We will describe the dither patterns, readout patterns, sensitivities, saturation limits, and subarrays available for each of the imaging instruments (NIRCam, NIRISS, and MIRI) and the factors that should be taken into account when planning observations.
