JWST Community Lecture Series - Preparing a JWST Coronagraph Proposal (L. Pueyo)

Community Lecture
October 18, 2016 03:00 PM EDT - October 18, 2016  04:00 PM EDT
Baltimore STScI Muller Bahcall Auditorium

JWST has a suite of coronagraphs designed to provide high contrast observations of astrophysical objects from 2 to 23 microns at unprecedented sensitivities. To plan observations, users will have decide how to read out the detector, how long exposures should last, and what is the optimal calibration plan to enhance contrast with post-processing. In this talk we will discuss the general science trades underlying these choices and illustrate a variety of tools aimed at support the design of coronagraph programs.
