The second "User Training in JWST Data Analysis" workshop will be held on November 8-11, 2016 at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI).  The purpose of this three-day meeting is to provide training in the the open-source data analysis tools being developed at STScI for use with the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), as well as for many other optical/IR observatories.

Data analysis tools for JWST are being written in Python and distributed as part of Astropy, a community Python library for astronomy, affiliated packages, or in some cases as standalone packages.  Most of the meeting will focus on these tools and include example workflows with mock JWST data.  There will be multiple unconference sessions enabling hands-on use of the data analysis tools. The meeting provides an opportunity to interact with STScI staff working on JWST and to get an update on the development of user tools for planning JWST proposals. There will also be an opportunity to learn to use the JWST exposure time calculator python library.

The meeting will include an optional training day (Day Zero) on November 8 to provide novice participants an introduction to Python and Astropy.  All of the tools and accompanying data needed in order to participate in the workshop will be distributed prior to the meeting.
