Submission Deadline for Cycle 1 JWST GO Proposals Changed to April 6, 2018

News Feature November 15, 2017

JWST timeline showing major milestones since January 2017.

Updated 3/27/2018: The JWST Cycle 1 GO/AR deadline has been delayed. See the March 27 news article for more information.

In response to the new JWST launch date in the 2nd quarter of 2019, the deadline for submissions of proposals for Cycle 1 General Observer (GO) programs has changed by about a month to April 6, 2018. This decision was endorsed by the JWST Users Committee, as well as the project at STScI and NASA. The release of the Cycle 1 call for proposals has not changed, and is still scheduled for November 30, 2017.

Additionally, STScI is planning a supplemental call for JWST proposals, with a submission deadline around the time of launch. This supplemental call will address rapidly evolving science areas, based on information that was not available at the deadline for regular Cycle 1 proposals.
